Snorkeling Puerto Morelos Riviera Maya
The world's second largest reef is located here at Puerto Morelos it is a Protected Natural Area which is rich in flora and fauna. Great care has been taken to keep it from being damaged. There is a government guard assigned to protect this area.
If you are going to snorkel, take a boat with a guide who will provide the all the needed equipment including a life vest. You may not touch the coral and must take great care not to damage it as it is only 6 feet below the surface. If you are not careful it is possible to break the coral with your hands, feet or body.
To begin your trip the guide will take you to beautiful places where you will see fantastic coral formations where hundreds of multi-colored fish live and feed. You will see parrot fish, bull fish, eels and many other sea creatures.
If you are a diver and like to explore, you can be taken to a deeper spot of the reef. You will be able to reach a depth of 13 feet. The guide will give you the same recommendations to care for the reef.
When you are ready, your guide will instruct you where to dive to be able to see the grand coral formations, manta rays, tiger shark, eels, multi-colored fish and, if you are lucky, turtles. You will enjoy seeing them in their natural habitat. We recommend you do not bother them for your safety and that of the reef.
To finish your trip enjoy a delicious lunch in the hotel restaurant. We recommend that you carry an underwater camera with you at all times so that you will be able to have wonderful memories of those precious moments of your trip to Puerto Morelos.
